HEY KIDS! Let’s Talk About Lice

Did you know lice are tiny bugs that live in hair? Don’t worry—they can’t fly or jump, but they love to crawl around and hide close to your scalp where it’s warm.

Baby Lice (Nymphs)

When lice hatch from their eggs, they’re called nymphs. They’re super tiny and need to eat blood to grow (ew, right?).

Lice Eggs (Nits)

Nits are little eggs that lice glue to your hair. They’re teeny-tiny, shaped like ovals, and can look yellow, white, or even dark. Nits hatch in about a week—unless we stop them first!

Grown-up Lice

Adult lice are about the size of a sesame seed. They use their claws to hang onto your hair so they don’t fall off. They lay up to 10 eggs every day—yikes!

How to Stop Lice

Don’t share brushes, hats, or hair ties.

Tie up long hair when you’re at school or playing.

Ask a grown-up to check your head if it feels itchy.

👉 If lice come to visit, don’t panic! With the right treatment, we can kick them out fast.

A Silly Lice Poem

Lice are tiny, hard to see,
Crawling round so sneakily.
They don’t jump and they don’t fly,
They just crawl from guy to guy!

Nits are eggs stuck on your hair,
Sitting tightly hiding there.
In a week, they hatch so quick,
That’s why checks can do the trick!

Grown-up lice are small but tough,
Clinging on, they never bluff.
But with combs and special care,
We’ll soon chase them out of hair!

So don’t be scared, and don’t think twice,
We know how to stop the lice!
